THE TASTE

A graceful vintage: medium light in color; aromatically shy, somewhat closed in its youth, but slowly shows fresh strawberry, Bing cherries, leather and an earthy undertone. Flavors are beautifully woven together—red fruit, dried raspberries in particular, root-beer and a lift of baking spice. Tannins are integrated and silky. A wine of great balance and harmonious flow.

PAIR IT WITH

Pairs well with chicken and medium-firm cheeses.

THE STORY

In the beginning, there were three partners: Michael Terrien, Peter Molnar and Arpad Molnar. From the outset they owned and farmed their own vineyards, coopered their own barrels and vinified their own wines. In 2002 they made their first 98 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon. We are individuals who have always been compelled to discover something new.

Obsidian’s winemaker, Alex Beloz, has crafted their wines for more than a decade. More artist than his engineering degree suggests, Alex has intimate and longstanding knowledge of Obsidian’s vineyards and of it’s coopering. He raises to a high art the skill of matching oak to wine.

Over the last decade and a half, many have joined Obsidian bringing inspiration and innovation to this powerful collaboration.
